Changing the crankcase filter is easy with arm extensions!

Spent yesterday morning changing the crankcase filter as recommended. Nice easy job, if you can float or have arms like a baboon. I did read that it should take 20-30 mins, but what with torrential rain (Ive started so Ill finish even if it takes all day) and difficult to get at bolts at the back it actually took nearly 3 hours!
The filter I removed was a solid lump and god knows when or if it had been replaced previously so I replaced it with one of those plastic 'vortex' things. Anyway, put everything back together (again with the hard to get at bolts) cleaned up and sat down with a nice cuppa and daydreamed about attaching a harness to an engine hoist so that I can hover over the rear of the engine like Tom Cruise in mission impossible. Or perhaps go on fleabay and see if anybody is selling a pair of 1970's platform boots with 5 inch soles. I might be able to reach those bolts, but I am not sure if gold leather platforms go with overalls and what would the health and safety police say (can you get ones with Steel toe-caps)? QUID FACIUM TIBI

Next time, remove the plenum chamber first, for much better access, then get yourself a nice thick blanket, lay this across the front of the engine and then you can lie on it to get at the bolts at the back. Thumbs Up (Easy for me to say as a smaller primate!) Laughing .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Hopefully there wont be a next time with this particular job, but a blanket would come in handy if (when) there are any other difficult to reach jobs. Perhaps we could start a new discussion as to which type of blanket sufferers (sorry ff owners) prefer to use (joking). QUID FACIUM TIBI
