Police settings on code reader?

I had a little play earlier with my old code reader just to see if there was anything stored and while playing a stumbled accross a sort of options list of things that were fiited/active and things that weren't and towards the bottom of the list a few boxes had police settings against them but weren't active.

Until UPS pull there finger out and deliver my IIDtool I can't have a proper play as my other reader will only read not edit, has anyone got any idea what these options actually do? Current

Just speculating but I know some vehicles record things that people aren't aware of and manufacturers don't advertise. Things like speed of the vehicle when the air bag(s) were deployed, the code of the last key used, etc and other useful for an investigation information.

Might it be that the reader makers knew this and hoped to sell the device to police forces on that basis? Manufacturers make it r-e-a-l-l-y difficult to access that information (and can only be dome through them) even where deaths are involved so maybe the is a work around? Pure speculation on part in relation to the functions of the reader.

I found in my owners manual a section on stored data. Basically, if the vehicle is involved in a serious RTC, the authorities ie Police, after getting a court order, can access data that the main ecu has stored at the time of the event, speed of vehicle, braking, lighting, steering position etc.

this is for when the police bought them, the ecu has got some pre programmed settings, I've seen it before on BMW ecu's, I'm just wondering what the settings actually do once activated. Current

Could be things like head light flasher settings. Also some of the blue light stuff when added can mislead the light ecu, so could be a seeing to tell the ecu not to worry about errors when the blues are added. V8 or else ...
