Tailgate strap snapped in the middle... NOT rusted through!!

Hi, seen various posts about straps breaking but always like this one of axle's

[/quote]

Noticed one of mine had a kink in it,

It didn't feel right so I cut the cover off,

When I was at Craig's a couple of weeks back he noticed that they had stopped pivoting on the end that is fixed to the body, I suppose this has caused them to have to bend more than usual and the steel wire has had enough...

Luckily he had some old ones that were OK so he gave me a couple, fitted one of them for the weekend but ordered a couple of new ones as they have to take my weight... Shocked

So even if the ends don't look too rusty, check both ends can turn...

I had one on my P38A break there but it had rusted through. Water must have been collecting in the sheath and running down to the bottom of the loop.

Yep, close one, might have scratched the bumper... Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

The 322's are stainless wire unlike the 38's...

Going to leave the new ones soaking in Dinitrol for a few days, let it soak into the ends and the wire, can't hurt.... Thumbs Up Pete

Just had a look at mine and 3 out of 4 fixing points seized. Took them off, wire brushed, greased and refitted. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Declan
