Wont Start

Hi,

Had a few RR over the years and have recently collected a 16.5MY 5.0 SC 10 days ago.

Not missed a beat until just tried to leave work and car unlocks, mirrors power open DLR's come on etc but all that comes up is LR logo in the centre screen (and on the rear entertainment) and everything else is dead.... other than a clicking sound from the door speakers....

Waiting for the AA now but not sure what they will be able to find as no LR assistance available till 9am tomorrow morning.

Will keep you posted with the outcome.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune especially on such a new car...

In my opinion LR assistance engineers don't exist, it's a totally fallacy conjured up to give you the customer reassurance in the very unlikely event you have a problem (LR assumption not the owners).
Every time I broke down there was never anyone available only the AA, never seen a LR Assistance person, do they exist?

I hope you get a replacement vehicle within a reasonable amount of time and your car's fixed promptly but from my experience I wouldn't be holding your breath.

Great cars spoilt by their electronics and the 3rd party LR Assistance contractor who seemed totally overrun with customer's with problems and cannot give us customers the support they need when their car's broken.

Hi

They offered a landrover tech between 9 and 11 tomorrow morning but tonight at half 6 would be the aa. I wanted someone to see it broken rather than risk the possibility of tomorrow morning it just starting as sods law would dictate and be told all is OK.

However waiting for the aa for 90 mins having been told within the hour I cancelled it and am waiting for the lr tech tomorrow morning.

The lr techs do exist as had one out last week to my defender autobiography and really good.

Have had 3 l405s before this and all have been reliable and other than the odd recall and niggle they have always started which to me is the holy grail. Rattles and bumps I can live with but non starting is a big no no and I won't keep a car that doesn't start on the button.

I assume you have checked for battery voltage ?? It could be that the battery just died as seems to happen sometimes. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

So LR tech came out. Battery had enough power in it.

He did a hard reset of the system which involved disconnecting the battery, reconnected and hey presto it started.

Have sent car and both sets of keys to the dealer!

In defence of LR assist tech's all of them have been great. Always really positive about the vehicles despite the fact that every vehicle they see is broken! They do exist and they do know the vehicle, but they do have to sleep hence the AA come out to play.

About 20 years ago had one come out to a discovery with a blown engine and he even had a flask of hot water and selection of newspapers and made a brew and left me sat in his car while he dealt with mine!
Not quite the same now but very good all the same.

I had 3 breakdowns in 6 weeks and not once did a LR engineer attend, always the AA so that's what I based my assumptions on.
No doubt they are good when they arrive as I'm sure they're having lot's of practice Laughing

Sorry to the OP about the thread drift.

'Cos that's a perfectly normal thing to have to do when you want to use your very expensive prestige car Rolling Eyes

Don't blame you. I'd have sent a note demanding my money back as well.

Hope you get sorted soon Thumbs Up

Result!

I just wanted to defend the AA who came out to a loan RRS I had. They plugged in a tough book to the OBD and diagnosed a set faults at the roadside. Ultimately they said the car can't be driven and it was picked up.

Well done! So easy to reject now with the new law - did it with my unsatisfactory Sport extremely easily.

They should be providing you with a car until the new one arrives.

The more and more people who reject, the better LR will have to get as its going to cost them money!
