Shipping a car to Australia

andy , how you doing ?
I shipped my cars over using Crown removals in a 44' container for the L322 and a Volvo V70 T5 not the cheapest way but it's a door to door service without contracted companies getting involved at the other end . There is a website and forum called poms in oz , a fairly terrible place full of "a"holes and moaning wimmin but a chap there called the Iron duke or Iron /lady is a car importer and hand out good advice . I cant realy recomend and import agent at this end as I don't know where you are going but it is through this person you will have to pay all you taxes , you can't deal with the customs directly and you will also definitely have to pay the luxury car tax I'm afraid . I was lucky and paid to get my car valued by the valuer at just under the limit and saved thousands .
Getting the car registered once you actually have it is a bit of a faff as well because to get your personal import plate to put in the engine space it has to put over the pits as they say and fail because it won't have the plate and then you get the paperwork to actually apply for the bloody thing .

by the way where are you going ? 2008 MY Supercharged
Rimini Red / Jet
four zone climate
remote park heater
and no ugly kid windows.

Hi Bud Smile
yea not doing too bad , just stressing over getting everything sorted ready to ship out. Rolling Eyes
ye ai have had a look at the pomz in oz website , I signed up to it last year and must confess i havent been on since as i find that everyone on there seems to give the impression they know everything and when you try and ask a genuine question they respond in a way that makes you sound like you just came out of school and that you should know the answer to the question ?

Yea i had a look at iron lady but wasnt too sure if they could ship my household goods out as well ?
I know it does sound like a long winded process to be honest in getting it registered but from my point of view its well worth it as im saving thousands before i even start.

I was planning on moving to Brisbane but i have been offered a job with a John Deere dealer in regional NSW on rediculess money so thought i would sacrifice beach over money Very Happy

As he says, it won't have an Australian Compliance Plate, i.e., to show compliance with ADRs - Australian Design Rules. Ron B. VK2OTC
