Apart from expecting it to be covered by warranty, I never use mine for the very reason that if it goes wrong it's likely to be a right royal PITA to get it fixed! Shocked Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I disagree, there is an electric motor down there that needs to be worked. If you don't use it regularly it will seize.

I use mine all the time since the cars I've had have them, and have never had a problem.

eventually you will wear the pawl out in an auto box if you only use that method, especially in a 3 tonne brute!

On the 322 does it not automatically engage when you switch the engine off? Mine does - sort of a fail safe thingy.

Not the same with the sport then?? 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

It may well be possible to fix it - take a look here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic91299.html Wink

If they are used frequently and kept well adjusted they are not a problem at all. Leaving it gives the mechanism chance to seize up and it's much better not to put the strain on the parking pawl, so I advise you always use it. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

So let me get this straight Mick, a newish car and the linings have come off the handbrake shoes, right? And the warranty said no, right? So it's not wear and tear, it's a premature failure of a component and LR warranty are full of shaving cream.

700 effin' sheets and all, for a set of parts which cost less than a hundred and 30 minutes each side to fit the things. What a bunch of rinsing, soft bawed w*nkers.

Fire a complaint into LR Customer services. That's utter bovine excrement. The parts ARE covered, and I positively know this 'cos my L322 did much the same a couple of months back and it was all fixed at no cost to me. Mine didn't jam, it just wouldn't hold as the linings had come adrift.
