TDV8 EGR low amplitude fault

Right so I've finally finished reassembling the car after replacing both EGRs, and the thermostat housing whilst I was at it.

Started up the car and checked faults. P142D-22 (2f) showed up and stayed up. Referring to the workshop manual PDF I have this indicates the left hand EGR has "low amplitude", I.e. a open circuit somewhere. Note the right hand one does not show up.

I understand that the EGR operates off 12V but no where on either connector (ignition on but engine off) could I find this. There was 5V on the centre pins. Both connectors have the same voltages appearing on both, I don't have a scope at home so can't do more thorough investigations.

Does anyone have any ideas about where 12V is meant to be (is it an engine on job)? Or what might be the issue?

I really hope I haven't been sold a duff one as I don't particularly want to have to remove it again!!! Big Cry (Genuine parts from Island 4x4). Ed
