Radio/Audio screen jumps back to Menu

I'm not sure how the radio menu should work correctly on my 2004 HSE but it seems rather strange that when I select the radio screen it will jump back to the main menu after a few seconds. It does the same when I'm in the CD changer menu. Sometimes the radio/CD menu will stay and not jump back. What's the deal?
