TDV8 Parts - Anyone need anything?

Hello Everyone. You all may remember my issues last month with my TDV8 RR. The EGR valve broke and was sucked into the engine, causing major damage to the point whereby the engine is a writeoff.

I'm in the process of attempting to source a full damaged TDV8, with a working engine! If I was to purchase one is anyone interested in any parts? I'm not sure how this would work, but if the MODs agree? perhaps everyone could post up what they require and offer price.

As I said, I have not acquired a vehicle yet, but this seems like the most cost effective way. Let's see how this goes. Thanks.

OK Stan. Thanks for your input. Perhaps we could do it differently. Currently I have no parts for sale, leaving price aside are people interested in parts? When and If I get them I could do a price list for the parts required? I don't want to go against the rules so would this suggestion be ok?

Thanks.

I wish you the best of luck OP but isnt it sad that we have got to this stage re engines? My 40 year old series 3 runs perfectly, granted not in the same league but come on.... is it progress?? Big Cry

PS after eulogising about mine the battery is now as dead as a dead thing at the dead convention Rolling with laughter

Hey Guys. Thanks for the feedback. I think however I'm going to have to put this plan on-hold currently. I might reopen the thought in the future and if so will keep you guys updated!!

I think I've managed to source a complete engine, so at least I can get her going. However, I can't help but feel no longer comfortable driving her - I imagine I will be concerned with every bang and knock it makes.

The old stuff really was much more reliable. I had a old classic RR with the 200 tdi engine. It sat in a field for 2 years, obviously the battery was flat but a quick connect of the jump leads and she fired first turn.

I can't help but think the newer stuff just would be the same. Out of interest has many on here had engine failure? I know it's more common on the RR sport/ Disco. I didn't think the TDV8 was as bad.

If I remember correctly yours was a 3.6?

If you are interested in breaking it up then there's at least one part I could do with. The brake vacuum hose that goes all over the top of the engine. I've currently got one on order with Dan but LR say June... I was going to see if I could do a temporary repair until the part comes in but conveniently one may have appeared!

They're ~£90 new from Dan so... would have to have a think what else might be of use now Whistle Ed

Not to be funny but wasn't a Disco broken and a separate section setup for all the parts to be stripped and sold off at request?

Just saying if the OP makes a donation to the forum this could be the easiest way to do it. People post up bits that aren't already listed asking for a price and the price is listed up.

As always the rule should be the items are only sold and sold to the first to put the money the seller Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Hey Guys. I've bad news. I might have to reopen this idea. I purchase what I thought was an engine for 2,500 pounds. Sadly the entire transaction appears to be a scam.

The person appeared extremely trust worthy. I discuss everything over the phone, and he knew alot about Land Rovers and various sub-systems in great detail. I transferred the money to his NatWest account. But thats when things started to go wrong. Needless to say I'm having trouble even getting the banks to investigate it.

Do you guys have any recommendations? The money was set via bank transfer. First engine goes, then replacement engine is a scam!!!

If you are breaking a whole car less the engine, then I could set you up something similar to this on DISCO3:

Gutted for you !!
Your bank must surely get involved and start an investigation. I would contact the Police in the first instance and at least get a crime report logged. The bank will insist on this before taking any action....

Keep us informed of what happens. Good luck 👍

Try "equicar 4x4" in Birmingham UK.

They break alot of late model Land Rovers & appear to have 2 X TDV8's at the moment.

It's been many years since I've had anything from them, but they are well established -

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
