So, after the local garage messed about and determined my brake shields are rotten they now rattle like a very rattly thing and I need to remove them.

I think it changed for the 2010 onwards cars from what people have said in the past, RAVE is not that up to date though sadly. Discovery 4 HSE

I used tin snips. Can you not put big washers on ? Or are they too far gone? |

I was pretty brutal with them tbh, I got really pjssed off with the embarrassment cause the noise was ridiculous . I think I did quite a few cuts & a fair bit of jiggling about. I would certainly go for the big washer route 1st, no farting about, just do them one bolt at a time, to be honest, all you need is something to be bigger than the corroded hole, you could even notch a washer to slip on without taking the bolt out |

I had the same issue with my shield and used "quik steel " which is a putty type compound you play with it like playdoug mixing it. As you feel it heat up you then apply it and it turns very hard hence the name. I applied it on the shield by the hold wedging it and it stopped the shield from rattling.
