Boot and Tailgate rarely open fully.

If I use the key fob on my wife's car the rear tailgate and boot rarely open fully. They appear to get bored about halfway through opening.

I thought this might be todo with the battery being not fully charged as when we bought the car the Eco mode wasn't working properly but it now seems fine.

I'm told the boot/tailgate are the first to go if the batter is low, but why do they open fine when you press the button on the boot but not on the keyring? Do people think is is a battery issue or just some fault?

It's probably a software issue. Mine wouldn't open at all with the fob, but the buttons on boot and inside worked OK. The dealer sorted it.

I seem to remember that the amount of opening is settable somehow. letters not necessarily in the right order

Yes, you can set how far up the upper tailgate opens (covered in owners manual from memory), but as far as I am aware, the lower tailgate is always supposed to open fully (as you would expect). My lower tailgate sometimes decides not to drop down fully however, but if I shut it and open it again, is works fine ,but this is quite infrequent. Steve

This was happening to me on the lower tailgate - so l lubricated the link wire where the cable goes into the lower tailgate at the sides. l had noticed that when it lowered it was getting slower and l have a feeling if it feels any resistance it stops. Mine now raises and lowers at speed now after the light oiling.
