United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zermatt Silver
Just got my 2003 Vogue with LPG

I was originally going to get a RRS as I think it's one of the best looking 4x4's on the road. Unfortunatly (or perhaps fortunatly Very Happy ) I sat in a FFRR and soon forgot about the Sport.

Picked it up on saturday. It's got 84,000 miles but I know the owner who's had it for the last two years and he's looked after it. Plus it has a Prinz LPG conversion. Drove it around on the weekend and I absolutely love it!!! I now understand when people tell me it's the best car they've ever owned. Thumbs Up

Next, we'll be doing a full PPI (post purchase inspection Laughing ) check over on the car and giving it a big service.
I'll probably film the PPI procedure being done as part of a Range Rover video feature for next year.

There's a few bits that need fixing and we'll also do a few modifications along the way. Side steps, clear indicator lens etc. Thinking of changing the front/rear lights as well. The wheels I'll probably keep as I quite like them and don't really want to go to 20". The plan is to upgrade and refurbish as much as we can can.

The interior needs cleaning and I've a friend coming down who's clean it all up. May try out that paint protection stuff for the exterior which supposedly lasts 3 years. Anyone tried that stuff?

Here's the pics. I've removed the number plate as it' still got my friends plate on it.

Nice looking motor,

Quite fancy an LPG conversion myself!

Don't bother with the paint guard stuff as it's a waste, invest in a full detail and decent wax! TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

4.4 V8 Autobiography and 22" wheels **Gone**

Thanks. It's currently in the boot.

I'm going to take it out and replace it with a couple of cans of tyre spray and make sure my RAC membership is up to date.

Going to get it machine polished. Also have the option of having some £8,000 zymol wax applied to it, but don't really want to keep having to top it up every month. WARNING: Do not read this!!! Okay, you read it but make sure you don't read this bit.

8K wax is a bit of a waste of time tbh, it lasts the same as any other decent wax.

Being silver you certainly won't see the benefits of having a really deep shine wax that really only work on darker colours.

After a machine polish and a couple of coats of wax on top of that should last for about 6 months. Depending on how often you wash, and your wash technique! I polsih then wax twice a year, but top up wax every couple of months usually.

Another thing to add to your list of things to check is the PCV hoses. a 4.4 with your mileage will need them replacing if they've not already been.

btw, love your interior combination! If you like the 19" Wheels but fancy updating, have you sen these:

I have the £8K wax on one of my other cars and it does make the car look great, although it is black.

Not sure what the wheels are called, I'm sure one of the "Wheel Guys" on here will pop up and answer soon.

8K wax is insane, as in reality it will have exactly the same ingredients as a £15 tub just mixed in different quantities.

As with most jobs, the detail is in the prep' so a wash followed by a clay, followed by a clean, followed by a polish, followed by a wax will yeild outstanding results even with budget products.

You should always use a wax that will enhance your colour/paint type. DoDo do waxes depending on whether the paint is light or dark:
http://www.dodojuice.com/light-fantastic-carnauba-car-wax.html they also do a hard or a soft wax...

If you want to be completely anal about keeping your car looking its best check out http://www.detailingworld.co.uk they have lots of bad things to say about the 3 year paint protection and things like Autoglym "Lifeshine".

Have you got yourself a copy of the workshop manual yet? You want CD2: http://green-oval.com/joomla/index.php?opt...;Itemid=29

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated. Thumbs Up

Used the Rangie for work today and had to haul a load of video equipment around. Everything fitted in the back made things so much easier. Should have got one years ago.

Also went off road in it for the first time. Well sort of.... Laughing
