I have a 2010 Range Rover with 20 Westminster alloys.
I need a set of four tyres as mine need changing.
What are people's preferences?

Depends what you are doing.

if its mostly on road driving then I would also look at the Michelin Lattitude Diamaris, i had a set of these on the old car and they wore really well over the 20k they were fitted for, still had 4-5mm left when i sold it, and they were still wearing evenly.

of the 2 you suggest i would look at the Pirelli Scorpions over the contis, as the coatis have a reputation for wearing at the edges quite quickly.

If you are fitting a full set of new tyres It might be worth checking the tracking, juts to make sure it is bang on. No point fitting some new boots only to find you have worn the inside edges or something prematurely.

+1 I always ran Michelins in the summer & Vreds in the winter on my L322 - but the Scorpions had a good reputation. No-one seemed happy with the wear rate, particularly front outside edges on the Conti's

Also worth considering the 255 55 20 Pirelli's - thats the standard L405 size and seems to be cheaper & a more comfortable ride - quite a few on here have made that switch

I would probably try that as well. The Conit is definitely a more comfy ride than the Pirelli in standard sizes but as pointed out above they can wear at the edges a bit. I'd be inclined to try the L405 sized Pirellis.

I'm just after fitting pirelli scorpions. Been a favourite of mine for years.

I don't trust conti, just not a fan from early land rover days where they cracked badly and the tyre shop showed me their books of returns. The conti book was double the other big names. V8 or else ...

I needed 2 new tyres shortly after buying my car.

Looked online at the EU rating on grip etc.
Got Nexen tyres instead. Same EU spec as Pirelli and nearly half the price.
They are also directional for water on the road.

They've been on there for 8k now and no issues.

I've tried both and the Continentals certainly wore excessively on the shoulders. The Pirelli Scorpion Zeros I put on afterwards have been much better and more even. If I had to change all 4 tyres I would get the 255 55 20s that are great value and give a better ride according to other forum members. Tom

The scorpion verde which are in the 55 profile are a decent choice, and are all season, but are definitely a more road biased tread too. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I went from continental to Pirelli and I would recommend the pirellis all day long

I have Pirelli Zero's on mine, I am not a Pirelli fan, but I have to concede they do the job well, although it will be Grabber at's next for better grass /offroad performance Regards

I have been researching the same now for 2 months. Car came with Michelin Latitude Diamaris and I have roughly the same wear left as you. They are horrible in light snow and I live in a ski resort. I just ordered 4 Continental extreme contact DWS 06. They have one of the highest ratings ever on all the tyre websites (tire rack, tire buyer etc). here is the US and are Y rated with extremely good handling in all conditions including light and heavy snow. I paid $244 per tyre.Will reports back after I pt some miles on them.

Pumpkin69, I had the conti cross contact on my sport and the sides wore out so fast it was ridiculous. I was apprehensive about another Continental tyre until I started researching the extreme DWS06.
