Slightly off thread, but wondering how big a problem it is if left unmodified.

Our car is out of warranty but Land Rover have just agreed to do this modification whilst it's in for a service as it's only done 11k miles and was reported to Taggarts in Glasgow 3 times whilst it was under warranty.

The problem only occurs if the engine is lightly loaded for long enough for significant oil to accumulate in the secondary inlet tract. However with the torque available low in the rev range these engines often don't get a good regular work-out so are prone to accumulating the oil. Regularly getting revs above 2500 rpm with reasonable throttle openings to get the secondary turbo operating clears any small accumulation. |
