2012 tdv8 problem

Hi. Cousin of mine is buying a 2012 TDV8 and I mentioned the oil return problem

RR he is looking at has 36,000 miles on it and he is asking the dealer to make sure the fix is done before he buys it

Could anyone on here advise how much it would cost for a indie to do this work ?

Is it all labour or are parts involved , I e read on hear costs of 1800 - 2500 stg for the job , so would really appreciate some advice

Thanks 2015 4.4 AB

Slightly off thread, but wondering how big a problem it is if left unmodified.
I suspect mine is unmodified, but no problems to date at 60K miles .
Other owners experiences sought.

Our car is out of warranty but Land Rover have just agreed to do this modification whilst it's in for a service as it's only done 11k miles and was reported to Taggarts in Glasgow 3 times whilst it was under warranty.

I was told it's about 10 hours labour to carry out the modification.

The problem only occurs if the engine is lightly loaded for long enough for significant oil to accumulate in the secondary inlet tract. However with the torque available low in the rev range these engines often don't get a good regular work-out so are prone to accumulating the oil. Regularly getting revs above 2500 rpm with reasonable throttle openings to get the secondary turbo operating clears any small accumulation.

And is there a modification / campaign reference number to check vehicle history with dealers at all?
