clunking first gear

I have a real worry going on with my 02 v8 vogue

When it gets warm / hot i get it bang into first gear when pulling up, when its cold its fine?

Its starting to bother me a bit, could it be i just need to check / change oil? I say this because of the hot cold thing!!

What's your mileage? Gearbox oil should be changed every 60k as per the manufacturer. Ring tes transmissions in westbury? They changed my fluid at a very reasonable rate.

This would be my first port of call.

The milage is on 125k but had new box fitted just under 2 years ago and has done about 30 k since.

Dont fancy another 3.5 k bill Shocked

I was hoping the change of oil would work....wishfull thinking ?????

i read this on another forum and it wasn't a conclusive fix....but its worth a try, disconnect the battery overnight and the ecu that sorts the gears should reset itself....but your problem might be mechanical not electronical [ just made that word up Very Happy ] so my tip might be bo**ocks...

before i had a remap on mine i had the slowing down gear clunk but that seems to have gone now.. ... - .- -.

You can try an oil change, it can only help... What happened to your first box? Could whatever caused that to fail be causing problems with your new box? (thinking fluid cooler, overheating, blocked cooler lines etc etc)

Booked it in today for a flush and filter,

when i went out with the guy it never done it as i said it has to be very hot not even half hour driving around not to mention the 20 mins in traffic getting there!!! so thats why im not that worried ....famous last words Rolling Eyes

we did find signs of a leak so hope its just low on oil,

I park it on gravel drive so cant see any obvious oil patches
