Oh dear what have I done! 😳

Hi guys my names Andy and it looks like I've just bought a high millage Range Rover supercharged vogue se 😬. It's on a 55 plate with 143k, one owner with 11 service stamps in the book including recent gearbox/diff oils ect replaced. Will post pics up when I get it. I must be mad! Lol but this is one expensive itch I had to scratch. Main thing I would like to change when I get the car is a new steering wheel as believe it or not that's the only interior item showing the miles, it's abit shiney. I've seen the ones that powerfull uk supply but wondered if you guys could reccomend anywhere else?

Many thanks Andy

They are very good, had one for over a year... 17,000 miles, still looks good and heating works...

What do you think is wrong with them??

Enjoy the new FF they are not as bad as folk make out... Thumbs Up Pete

Didn't notice any difference in length of time...

It's a bit fiddly to line up the tool they give you for popping off the airbag but not too bad if you are OK with DIY type things...

They have a video walk through which shows it is easy but it's all loose on the one he's using....

Loads on here have done it though... also you can get the silver spokes if you want as you have to swap them over anyway... seemed a bit expensive for just a small bit of silver but then again mines no show pony.... Pete

nothing wrong with 143k to me, its a nice scratch! and I think you might have bought the 'hidden gem' rangie, there are some early SC models, that are in the lower roadtax band, meaning you pay around £290 instead of the higher £490 I think this changed, around April 2006.
And, you are driving it at £1 a gallon, compared to the 143k that was mostly higher than that.
And, you bought (to me) the better, reliable car, unlike the diesels....
And, it goes like stink, Razz

Thumbs Up

Haha cheers for the reply mate. Yes it is in the lower tax bracket so it's the same per year as I'm paying for my freelander 2! 😮. Tbh it was the age old decision of 4.2 or tdv8. I know a couple of people that have had the turbo/egr problems with them which does put me off but in the end it was the drive of the older supercharged that did it for me, so! Effortless and refined but awesome power when needed. That aswell as the current fuel prices and I only do about 7k a year I thort sod it!. I know of all the other problems these beasts have but they have so much character and reliability is so tedious lol. Some of my friends think I'm mad going from an 07 plate freelander to an old 55 plate full fat. I think I need new friends lol

your mates will all want a ride in it, and you could always find a personal plate to hide its vintage.

as you get to know the car, you will always have a feeling that you did the right thing.
I see 'other' cars out there. some new, some old... but to me, its not about a cars age, its about the car itself. I see Cayenne's, cheap ones, I see merc GL class, I see land cruisers. not for me....I see some tasty BMW's and some AMG mercs, I like them, but I cant 'use them' like the rangie.
many will agree on here, that there are hardly any cars to better the Rangie. and so long as it's not a lemon ( Shocked )...... you wont be getting rid of it for a while!

all 'lemon' questions and problems, have been asked here on this forum, some by spanner friendly guys, some by bonnet-opening head scratchers,
it helps to know what your car can do, and what some things/buttons do, and if best left alone, or used without fear. and things like rattles and minor leaks, to keep an eye on.

my advice, is, get you tracking checked on a four wheel alignment centre, perhaps ask if the rear bushes are tired....and perhaps buy yourself a new battery. the battery replacement, is the best thing to give yourself a better introduction to the Rangie.

Oh, and we love pictures... Thumbs Up

enjoy!
