I had good experience with A plan a couple of years ago when I had an extra car and our 3 NCD's were all being used. Allan reflected one of the NCD'S and enabled a competitive quote for the extra car.

I insured a car with a view to purchasing and collecting on a sat morning, thinking that i may have difficulty arranging insurance at the dealership. After viewing the car deciced not to purchase and bought the same car ,spec and year ,the only differance being the colour black. On informing the insurance company they tried to increase my premium by £100 ?????

I did that last week & no-one called I had expected to fill in more details on-line - probably should have called you.... (Edit) Note to self - tell my wife that if anyone calls about insurance, that it's for me and not to send them packing I went with Aviva anyway - it seems that they take a more lenient view of 1 accident with protected NCB than others. Called A-Plan and was given a quote today that was even better than NFU (£340) admittedly it is a restricted mirage policy (7500) but I still have defenders to use for the messier jobs.

This thread is interesting, I've just renewed with Esure, as it was easy, protected no claims, £500 excess and IIIRC it was about £190 - I thought it was OK but I am very old, lots of no claims and I think I said 10000 miles/annum. Geoff |

Just renewed mine been with admiral for 2 years as last year's renewal was only a couple of quid more than previous year. This year's quote £300. Quick search on wecompare the meerkat tesco bank £205. Phoned Admiral we can knock £20 Off so not with them anymore. Had same sketch with breakdown recovery renewal quote £190 paid £79.

Our RR was involved in a minor, damage only, collision last year. Liability remains unresolved. Insurance on another car came up for renewal in the interim and having declared this matter, the policy went up by about £50 per year on a maximum protected NCD policy. Ironically, even if the matter is settled with our vehicle being deemed not at fault, that policy will still be more expensive now (because I've checked). The sums I'm referring to are low and on that basis, it doesn't seem worth the hassle of arguing the toss on liability. |
