L322 will not start

Today tried to start my Car range rover L322 2004 3ltr Auto, put key in and turned it, lights came on dash and heater plug light came on then off, tried to start and nothing,

After a full day on the car finally found out what the trouble was, under the gear leaver there is an arched piece off metal with two holes in it, the holes look like they are for drive and reverse. seams like it was not locating into any of the holes. After cleaning it up and putting some Lithium grease on it started up with no trouble. hope this helps someone else. Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Orkney Grey

i have 2002 petrol. once in a blue moon, i get something similar. when it first happened, i resorted to thumping parts of the car, in rage etc. Evil or Very Mad
when i hit the selector lever. and saying lots of naughty things, it started. after that, i only now thump the top of the 'stick' and we understand each other, and car starts. sounds like a bad contact, when placing into park, on the previous journey.
