Evening all

Are Delphi front struts ok? Had an air bag go front drivers side, going to do both fronts anyway. But not keen on LR genuine prices.

Definitely Delphi. Slightly dearer than the option but good quality OE.

Mine had Dunlops on when I bought it, they had nearly three inches less travel than the Delphi ones I replaced them with after one went bang....

I know they were a few years old when I took them off but they just didn't look as good as Delphis... Pete

Is there likely to be any issues with errors when I have got them on? Am I going to need to reset anything do you think?

No reason for any errors, should just fill up and work, as long as you ensure the height sensors aren't disturbed in any way. .

Start spraying the two nuts and bolts that hold the strut on at the bottom with some penetrating fluid and do it daily, then try to crack them off a couple of days before you change the struts... You can get to them with the wheel on full lock and your head in the wheel arch...

One of mine sheared off rather than undid..... they are pretty big so I doubt you'll find something lying around that would do.... Pete

Been out this morning and give them a good dose of Wurth penetrating fluid, looking to do them tomorrow morning.

The other thing about the bolts is that they have lateral grooves running their length (mine did anyway) so not easy to find lying about.

I did all the squirting with lubricant etc but in the end had to get MOH holding it on full lock whilst I welted them with a sledgehammer. Needed her there as when the engine is switched off the wheel tends to centre and the clearance is needed to avoid hitting the wheel arch.

Hope you don't have the same problem I fitted the Delphi in December last and they are excellent.

I used a 16" breaker bar and two lengths of trampoline leg for leverage (@ 5ft in all) then all my weight (11stone) on the end. That got them turning  .

Jesus! Sounds like I'm going to need back up on this one then!!!

My biggest problem was getting the bolts out after loosening the nuts. However, the nuts weren't a walk in the park either. To give you an idea the torque setting for them is 250nm. Bad enough when new and clean but worse when in for several years.

Great satisfaction when the job's done.

Well, you guys were all correct. What utter b*****ds they were to get out. All done now, but not before much swearing and perspiration to get them out. Mate popped his compressor over and air gun in the end.
