Vibrations when engine on and car is stationary. | |
So the car started to show some vibrations a few weeks ago and I now have a feeling it has gotten worse over time. It occurs when car is stationary, does not matter if in Drive or Park or Neutral. It goes away when I rev it up a little. But when idling when stationary I can sense vibrations that give almost a buzzing sound, similar to what we can sometimes hear from the back when compressor is running in these cars.
My first and most obvious thought was that my engine mounts possibly decided to give in and go but my mechanic looked at them from underneath the car and said he could not spot anything wrong with them.
I took my car to an unauthorized land rover mechanic yesterday to diagnose a faulty PDC sensor that causes continuous beep most of the time and asked them about the vibrations. They tested engine mounts by trying to move the engine adding gas in Drive and Reverse when brakes were engaged but it did not create any noises that one would expect from an unsecured engine so they kind of ruled the engine mounts out.
So now is the big question. Anyone experienced anything similar? Is it possible that this is due to engine mounts but they possibly show no wear when looked at from under the car?
Can anything else really cause it?
The unauthorized LR guys told me I can drop the car off one day so they can dismantle a bit here and there to investigate as they suspect it may be a viscous coupling generating that but somehow I do not find it believable and I do not want to leave the car with them so they can look here, there and possibly not find anything.
Any help will be appreciated, this gets really annoying when stuck in traffic jam or at red lights when all I can hear is the buzzing from vibrations.
