Afternoon all

For some reason I have started to get static from my RR. I have had it for a year (5 years old now) and it was fine before but it has just started to give me a shock every time I get out of it after a journey.

The only thing that has changed is that it had winter tyres fitted before Xmas and I have just had the side air vents changed as the old ones were rattling. I remember in the 1970s it was common to see a rubber band trailing to the floor to discharge static.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Seems unlikely to be the car, but shoes. clothes, somethng you have done to the seats/carpet?

Some remedies in the link about, including the "Carlos Fandango" anti static dangling thing  .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

i had a van that gave me static shocks. -as i left the vehicle. i wondered if it was my shoes, as many shoes these days are rubber soled. but i managed to limit it, by a different approach, i seem to remember whilst exiting the car, hold the metal frame of the door, (painted parts are ok) just dont hold the plastic handle.....as you get out, and as you get both feet onto the ground, only then let go... being the van was cheap and all plastic-ey, and maybe the shufling of polyetser clothing farbic against velour seat fabric etc.
also, when out in say shopping malls, dont go grabbing the metal bannisters, without first touching the wall. this dissipates any charge to earth, through the paint. trust me it does work.

takes me back to old college days,,, when we discovered, that the carpet was super static-ey, so dragging you shoes all the way accross the floor, and holding out your metal pen, and touching it to someone's earlobe, whilst they were studying, was very funny.
