I am getting the tpms alert light pop up and sometimes the message "check all tyre pressures", first time it happened i rushed around with my foot pump and all was ok. So now i just ignore it. As I'm in the process of renewing parts etc and as there is a MOT looming in June. I decided to check what the new regs are thanks to the EU. The bottom line is : "Vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012 will be checked to make sure the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) MIL is working".

I dont know if just turning the function off with your IIDTOOL can get you round that check, I suspect not and if thats the case its going to be a real pain.

Switching off using the IID is fine - IIRC if you have any warning light showing then it's an MOT failure. That's what I did with my 07 L322 - I had a similar problem to you & just gave up with TPMS

My L405 doesn't have TPMS fitted

I'm not sure what the date was, but it was later than 2012 that TPMS became mandatory - so up too that date, you should be OK to just disable it.

Another stupid, unenforceable issue... wonder how many TPMS lights will be wired into the IGN or some other light along with the MIL light in 000's of cars already...!!!! Pete

It seems to be a real crazy system, even going over speed bump briefly sets it off. The spare had a std valve so when i got a new tyre I bought a new TPMS tyre sensor thinking that it was triggering the system, WRROONNGGG!!!. Time to take the IID out of its box .

it sounds very possible, and i'm sure many will be caught out on the dreaded day. Its yet just another way of screwing more money out of motorists.

IID can read the error codes - so at least you can narrow it down a bit to which sensor it is - but you're still not clear whether its the wheel sensor or car sensor.

I got tired of buying new parts & still having the light come on randomly, so just turned the thing off altogether.

If you can't trust it, there's no point having it & I was just ignoring it every time it came on.....
