Loose strut top, advice please.

I have a 2012 tdv8 done 61k just mot'd 2 weeks ago. I noticed a knocking sound coming from the OSF corner about a month ago, my wife is the main driver have to say a carefull one aswell anyway lifted the bonnet today and found the black disc type thing about 3" across with a wire coming out of it , on the strut top is loose there are 2 spax head bolts on it they are tight and all the surrounding nuts seam tight.
The car is under LR used approved warranty so I wiil take it to the main dealer but can anyone advise me as to what the problem may be and how to approach the main dealer just incase they try to tell me its ware and tare and fob me off.
Also the main dealer MOT'd it so would this of not have been picked up then.
thanks.

know the piece you mean, the wire is for the adaptive dynamics in the front struts, not sure what the purpose of the disc is though.

they shouldn't move about, just checked on mine and they are solid as a rock. So it could be the source of the knocking however it is worth getting the dealer to have a look at the lower arms and all the ball joints too as well as the anti roll bar drop links as these tend to wear quickly, my drop links went at 50k on the 3.6, so is a likely culprit. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If it's under warranty I reckon it should be covered. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
