What to do with invoices and receipts for my old Range Rover

I sold my L302 Range Rover part exchange last year for an L405, and I handed the dealer all the invoices and receipts I'd kept over the last 7 years of ownership. The dealer said that he'd just throw them away, so rather than consign them to the bin, I kept them.

Just having a clear out, and I've come across them. Should I just chuck them? I've got an old 1980s Mercedes and quite enjoy the fact that every invoice is there from the year it was bought. I guess it's unlikely that my old Range Rover will become a classic, or will it?

Is all this stuff kept on a computer database these days anyway?

What would you do? 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

It's what is known as "history" and while not enhancing the value of a car it does help when selling - I've kept all the paperwork for mine as its useful to have a reference as to what was spent and how long ago - I'm surprised the dealer did not want it but if you could track the new owner down he/she may be glad of it. As for classic status the "official" line (from my insurance company anyway) was that as the FFRR is classed as a commercial vehicle it would have to be 25 years old to qualify for classic insurance. (That may change) so while many of us feel it is or will be a classic the insurance company's don't see it that way (at least mine don't) yet.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I always keep receipts as I know I value knowing what has been done to a car I'm buying. I thought that perhaps the dealer didn't want it as it gave the impression that a lot of things had gone wrong with the car (not really the case, but I could imagine wanting to avoid such an impression.)

The chances of the new owner turning up on here however have to be pretty remote... 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

If you was to keep the stuff in a folder, in the loft, you might find one day the new owner asking you, the previous owner, (addressed) on the log book, a question politely. You can then pass it on.
Also, if you posted a picture of the car, on here, in some soft of useful section, showing the reg plate, you could footnote the text, with 'history available, just PM me. ' one day the next owner, may join the forum, and find his car! Although unlikely. Unless it's something specific like say colour, wheels etc that he might look for.
