Getting you PPL is about £6k all in and will take anything from 6-18 months, depending on how often you can spare the time.

Best advice I heard about doing a PPL is to learn at an major airport such as BHX or East Midlands as you'll get better experience dealing with air traffic control, tower and other air traffic than from a grass field. A bit like learning to drive in a busy town/city as opposed to the empty countryside. Traffic doesn't scare you if you got your license in London!

The cheapest way to get a PPL is to go to Florida, and they throw in night flying for free! One of my brothers friends is currently doing it that way (21ish) Maverick off disco3!
