2010 rear light conversion problem

Here is the next challenge - should you choose to accept it.

I have done the rear conversion to my 2007 TDV8.

I have used genuine rear lights and boxes from a chap on eBay that does a good job.

Sometimes, and it seems to vary with the weather, the drivers side fog comes on. If I flick the lights on and off a few times it clears and works normally.

I have changed the interface box twice and tried a different light unit. Makes no difference.

So could it be a bad earth? I am unclear how the switching of the fog light actually works. Where is the earthing point for the rear lights?

Could it be the lighting control module playing up?

It does seem to be the wet weather that brings it on.

Any ideas welcome.

First thing I would do is swap boxes side to side and see if the fault follows the box.

Hi Mick

Already done, on my third new box and have tried new lights. Problem remains.

I've put the 2010 + lights on my 2005MY and aside from switching off the 'half fog' setting (as everyone thought my fogs were on when they weren't!!) and the 'cold light monitoring' to stop the check light and flickering via a Faultmate, they were plug and play and didn't need boxes.

My car is the pre face lift touch screen so the one that has the cobbled together electonics Laughing

I hope this helps?

regards

John
