One of my great annoyances when driving is that I can feel the vibration of an incoming text message under my left elbow (assuming my iPhone is in the centre console), Calls are fine no problem and can be answered from the steering wheel in the normal way.

Hi Stan and a Happy New Year to you, I could use a vent but on the older iPhones (including mine which is a 6) they must be powered from an external source to allow for the constant listening for the "hey Siri" shout so a wire would be needed. I think I will experiment a bit more and see where I get to. Geoff |

I think the wire can come out of the centre console without any issues. |

The vent works on another level as well, I can read the incoming texts as they are right in front of me and so I don't really need the phone to read them out to me Geoff |

Well it takes a good clear raised voice but "Hey Siri" works even under the centre console lid. It opens the bluetooth and beeps through the car speakers the phone then takes voice instructions over the cars microphone, I have to admit to it being a surprise but as well as read texts it will make calls and even convert your words as a text reply etc. If for whatever reason you need to just pushing the home button on the phone has the same effect as saying "Hey Siri".
