My first range was a 1972 two door classic given to me by my dad just before he passed away. I was only 26 and I simply couldn't afford to tax, insure it and fill it with petrol at 8 to the gallon. I had nowhere to put it so I sold it after about a year, how I wish I still had it now.... A future classic.... |

My sons first car was a 1.3 HL given to him by a family friend.

Hardly a classic though, just an unusual example of a very mediocre car. There were many reasons why they sold in much smaller numbers than the Cortinas, Escorts, Cavaliers or Chevettes of the day.

this same car sold at auction last year for £3250. doubling its price in a year is a tad optimistic |
