United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

I wonder if that has a sad story behind it.

We know someone who's father died soon after purchasing a new Ford Escort, his dream car, and her mother keeps the car fully serviced, taxed and tested even though she cannot drive. Her husband (S-I-L) takes it to the garage once a year and has accounted for most of its few hundred miles…I think it does twenty miles a year. The mother cannot not keep the car in good fettle and could never sell it knowing how much her husband loved the car.

My first range was a 1972 two door classic given to me by my dad just before he passed away. I was only 26 and I simply couldn't afford to tax, insure it and fill it with petrol at 8 to the gallon. I had nowhere to put it so I sold it after about a year, how I wish I still had it now.... A future classic....

I agree. Thumbs Up Maybe Gaydon motor museum would be interested.

My dad had a '86 VP. When he bought it (almost 3 yrs old, less than 10k miles) it had never been into 5th gear. The owner looked amazed when my dad took it for a test drive and he changed it into 5th, he (my dad) commented on the fact that it was a little stiff and the owner said he didn't even know it had 5 gears.
When my dad died ('95) I gave it to his brother, who ran it for many more years. It was actually a lovely car, very practical.

My sons first car was a 1.3 HL given to him by a family friend.
It hadn't run for a couple of years and in good 17 year old style he took the old A series enginet to bits and got it running really sweet.

He ran it for a couple of years and then did what all teenagers do. - he wrote it off trying to go round a roundabout like Nigel mansell!

It was a nice little first motor though!

I agree , it should go to gaydon

Hardly a classic though, just an unusual example of a very mediocre car. There were many reasons why they sold in much smaller numbers than the Cortinas, Escorts, Cavaliers or Chevettes of the day.

If you found a Maxi or an Allegro in similar condition it would also be a rare find but these were also dreadful cars back in the day. The remnants of BL and dark days indeed.

As said above, maybe a museum might want it but honestly, who is going to use that as a daily driver nowadays? Especially at that price. It's only fit for a museum, perhaps as an example of how not to build a car.

this same car sold at auction last year for £3250. doubling its price in a year is a tad optimistic
