Austria 2013 Range Rover Autobiography TDV6 Barolo Black
second battery fit with Voltage Sensitive Relay

Since owning the FF I have experienced a little battery drain: constatly about 20 mA and once in one or two hours a peak to 150-200 mA. Tried several times to hunt it down but never got to it. I know my car is equipped with a tracker by the former owner. I suspect this to be the culprit, but never found out where it is hidden Sad

So last year, after reading the very good posts here about this, I decided do install a second battery. I then also installed a mass cut-out so I could leave it separated and connect if needed the second battery.

Some weeks ago I decided to install e VSR (Voltage Sensitive Relay) between the batteries. This one seemed to be the best choice because it has a feature that it kicks in when needed during cranking.

If you want this, be sure to take the 7metre kit (I only had 50 cm left!)
Have it now installed for a week and it works really good. Measuring the main battery before cranking at lets say 12,3 V which always triggered the bong and HDC fault, now no more bongs! Thumbs Up

It is a fairly straightforward job. The only thing which is time consuming is getting the thick 110 A cable from front battery to rear battery: you need to take out the front seat to get to the cable tunnel in the sills. Sorry, forgot to take pictures Neutral Right in front of the B post the main harness goes to the inside of the car to the ECU location under the seat, then goes over the cross member right behind the seat and then again to the outer sill near the rear seat. Once you have passed this there is plenty of space to lay out the new cable. I put the thin starter trigger wire together with the thick cable and routed them together. From the front side battery box there is on the upper side a 10 cm rubber plug through which part of the main harness goes inside the car. I pinched a small hole in the rubber and routed the thick cable together with the small starter trigger wire through it, down the A post into the sill.
The VSR is located in the rear well fuse compartment.

This morning I also connected the FBH at the "starter trigger contact" of the VSR. If you're planning to do this don't forget to solder in two diodes (one in the feed from the starter, and one in the feed of the FBH). If ignoring this, this could lead to fuse cut out or getting the starter motor activated by igniting the FBH Whistle

Very happy with this improvement! No more bongs so far Mr. Green
Happy to help if someone is planning this.
