Had a look at a 2006 derv variant today. Genuine 52K on the clock and a lot of service stamps, all be it by independents. Lived its entire life on the Isle of Man before being bought up and shipped over here. Dealer selling wants £14,000 for it.
I realise that I'm going to need a gearbox oil and filter change and then make sure I keep up the servicing and include the crankcase breather filter.

Your opinions sought on sale price and other potential pitfalls of owning the dreaded dirty diesel. Its also in the lower £290 tax bracket.

that's a lot to pay for a td6,
get yourself a tdv8 ,its only £210 more a year ,
spread over 12 months its peanuts for a much better vehicle  2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey

Any one give me a clue as to what I should be paying for this example then ?

The TDV8's start around £10,000, that's the problem....

Also with that few miles I wouldn't buy it, they need to be used, you are better off with an average mileage car with good dealer history...

Lastly you could end up paying thousands for a new gearbox soon as they are well known not to last long...

Also just noticed you said it lived on an Island for most of it's life, crawl underneath and check for rust, the sea air could play havoc with it.... Pete

Interestingly, it had the least corrosion on the unprotected bits of the rear wheel sills than any other I have seen ! Also, no corrosion on the top tailgate lip .
