I am only allowed to have the 22 inches wheels according to my dealer - due to the allowed top speed of 250 km/h Twisted Evil All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I think your tyres needed replacing anyway Nick, they are completely gone on the edges.

CSK, that is the only tyre that had worn on the edge to that extent. It was the near side front which in the UK seems to be the one that suffers due to road camber. In the past the Continentals on L322 seemed to lose that edge very quickly. The rest of the tyre has 4mm of tread across it.

However, I was suspicious of the wheel alignment and, note earlier post, it was out. But it was the opposite rear that was out of alignment, the tyre tech said that this would have been pushing against the outer edge of the opposite tyre. [not certain if I completely believe the argument].

Anyway that tyre is 'toast'!

Angel,

It is interesting that the RR is rated to reach the 155 on the 22s only. I suspect it is to do with the sidewall flex at higher speed generating extra heat. The 20/21 are both rated to 168 mph (270 kph). JLR legal department being careful in case people run at a constant 155, fully laden and in 50°C ambient.

You can specify any of the wheels with the car, so if you opt for 20s is the sc limited? Don't think so. My dealer didn't even know about the restriction on top speed. But then it is the UK with a 70mph limit --ish.

It says the same on the web here too. But I think the car is probably not limited but it is a liability thing. Anyone got an SC on 21s that can verify? 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

I had 21 inch L405 wheels from my former L322 - but the dealer refused to put them together with winter tyres on my actual car - they checked the VIN but *computer says NO* Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the replies - nice to get the sympathy (I don't get it from anywhere else!) and glad to see I'm not the only one who's done this.

I did consider swapping it with the spare - I do have a full size spare in the boot, but frankly it seems like it will be far easier to get it repaired. I'm chasing around a few quotes - I just want to get it fixed asap.

I'm envious of those of you who have swapped your 22" tyres for 20" winter tyres (perhaps with a thicker side wall). I'd be tempted to do this if I drove the car on a daily basis instead of just weekends. I also have limited storage options, so given the amount of space 4x 22" tyres would take up, I might struggle with that option.

Anyway, I'll update this thread when I've had the wheel fixed! 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

I am lucky, cause we are renting in one of our houses some space to a good repairer - he will come this afternoon to my place to get the wheel repaired Cool All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

Rolling with laughter I bought some 21's and winter tyres - but my wife didn't like them - so I ended up with another set of 22's Rolling Eyes

I should probably have just got the tyres swapped over, but that seemed like too much faffing about twice a year, so I bought another set of wheels Whistle They've been on a month so far without a problem.

My summer ones lasted over 6 months before I scuffed them - towing a boat & manoeuvring through a tight petrol station when I heard the dreaded crunch Big Cry

My repairer came to my house - checked the wheel and told that he would have to bring the car to his place to fill it up, polish and paint it Sad 1,5 hour job Sad All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

Yes but I think you have them painted black Angel. The two tone diamond turned wheels need special equipment to have the same finish. Easier to repair when they are painted!

it is just a bit on the outside - so it will be a smart repair.

I've been getting a few quotes, and it seems to be in the £150-£250 range. I've been told that it can't be repaired at home, so I'll have to send the wheel away.

This is a bit of a pain of course as there seems to be nowhere local to me who can do the work. Although one has offered to loan me some wheels whilst I leave my damaged wheel with them.

I'm quickly getting attracted to the idea of just swapping it with the spare.... Although that would involve me changing the tyre (which I'm ashamed to say I've never done before!) 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

I swapped my wheels after I bought the car - I bought a set of 4, then looked for a spare.

The only one I could find was quite badly scuffed, but I bought it anyway.

When I collected it, the guy told me that he had given up looking after them and just bought a full set of new wheels when he needed new tyres. By the time he'd got something back for the old wheels, it wasn't that bad.

I think I gave him £150 for a scuffed wheel and tyre with 2mm on it - so £600 for a set of 4 against around £2k for a new set of wheels & tyres makes that quite an attractive option.....

I have the luxury of a full spare set, so I should probably get my summer one refurbished before the spring.

Any tyre fitting place will swap the spare onto the car for you for a few quid Thumbs Up
