Transfer case leaking.

Good afternoon all, I have a leak on my transfer case, on the output flange to the front.. does the transfer box need dropping to replace the seal…. I have been told the seal is on the inside of the box?.. it’s a 2007 TDV8. Many thanks in advance, Marc.

Marc,

The front output flange has to be released from inside the casing for removal, before you can get at the seal, so I’m afraid that the transfer box will have to come out and be split. It was possible to replace the seal in-situ with the earlier NV225 transfer box used on the 5-speeds (because the output flange was retained with a nut), but not with the later DD295 unit. The procedure for your DD295 is covered in the Workshop Manual, though.
