System software update?

I have been having audio issues for a while now and after reading another thread recently I have changed the head unit in my 2005 MOST system. The radio was intermittent before and I wasn't able to change radio channels. With the new head unit bought from Eb I am now able to change channels and it has started logging fuel data (mpg etc). I got a good deal on a brand new head unit £299 bargain and it was new still in the box. It was also the newer unit 9H42-10E889-AB / LR008310.
It still plays audio intermittently but when it does I have full control of changing the channels etc. The bluetooth phone connection works.
My question is do I need to get the software updated for the system to finally stop fu**n about and work all the time every time.
I also replaced the amp a while back for the XQK500105 instead of the 103 version. So this may be part of the software update that may be needed.
Also can I load the new software myself I have the GAP iiDtool.. Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black. Range Rover now sold.

Does it have a digital tv tuner on it?

The reason I ask is I was having audio drop out problems on my 2010 which was really annoying as there didn't seem any pattern to it, sometimes it would be every 4/5 mins then 15 mins then 2/3 grrrrr. The sound would drop for a couple of seconds, the amber light would flash and then the audio would come back on.

After plenty of reading I found out it was related to the digital tv reception. Apparently something to do with my head unit resetting due to frequency conflict?

The way round it is to go into the TV tuner and change the setting from UK to US. No more drop outs !!! On the odd occasion I want to watch TV I just change the setting back to UK remembering to select US after I've finished.

Good luck,

Hi Jack, no it has the old analogue system which is now defunct. I could try disabling that I suppose no use anyway and worth a try.
