bonnet release

changed a bulb in the car this afternoon, then though oh will just do this other job, and went to open the bonnet again and the release doesn't do anything, its like the cable came off or something.

is it a simple fix you reckon??

is getting the panel off even easy Smile

Do a search on here - there is a temporary fix - I seem to remember @NiceDayForIt did a write up.

If it is broken inside the car - you can remove the kick panel by driver door and access the cable - perhaps a set of mole grips will enable you to open it. Howard

Easy self fix. Make sure u know which end is kaput - cable is in 2 pieces and both are separate part numbers and come together inside the bonnet space. I will warrant it has chafed at the handle inside by the drivers door!

got the panel off

turns out not the cable at fault

the plastic locator on the end of the handle broke, letting go of the cable

Same just happened to mine, I just replaced the lot from Dan, new handle and bottom half of cable, it comes with the whole white plastic bit, you just need to use the screw that holds the handle on...

Wasn't much less than £25 all in if I remember right....

Tie string to the old cable under the bonnet then pull the old one through, retie string to new one and pull it through.... be careful not to pull the string off the end of the cable.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Then shout at JLR for not making it in metal to start with and then you would never have had to change it.... Censored ers Pete

Had the same on my son's audi quattro earlier this year. Just the plastic bit broke, easy fix but seems all manufacturers have adopted the plastic route. Big Cry
