Hi guys, looking to get the Rangie back on the road.

Just bought replacement silicone hoses from creation Motorsport and looking to get a new PCV and have read on here that the BMW part number 11617508541 is around half the price of the Land Rover one but I'm unable to locate a genuine one. I've found a few on eBay for cheap but from China, guessing though that even genuine ones are made in China anyway but unsure of quality.

ive got one i bought to fit when i do my valley pan gasket, however, i youtub-ed it, and found i could buy just the soft rubber part, (the bit that fails) and save myself a lot of grief, (ie not getting the bolts out), by just unclipping it, and snapping the new one into place, -no bolts etc. and just abound £20 if i remember. -off ebay.

I'm guessing there's not much to this part, so a cheap one off eBay wouldn't be make any difference? 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

I didn't want to take a chance on a cheap part so bought one from BMW dealer. I'm going to make a coffee and start work on the PCV valve time to get it back on the road after sitting on the drive for 6 months. 2004 RR 4.4 V8 Autobiography

Get yourself ready for a day that is a pain

I did my PCV pipes recently and the job tested my patience- it really did

So make sure you warn people off interruptions etc

However, whilst it's not the biggest job on a strange rover it is a fiddly one

Ok well it went well taking it off, came off in no time without any issues at all. Only problem I had was the wind blew away my gasket It has also been bodged in the past with glue and had jubilee clips missing, pipes not connected etc.

I do have a few questions though wondering where the pipe on the top of the valve goes, you can see it attached still to the yellow part in the picture. Also the very bottom hose that I'm holding looks to be perished, the one that attached to the small pipe that often breaks off but didn't on mine, it also wasn't connected at the other end.

OK this one goes to a metal pipe which leads to the sump.

The pipe is situated alongside the pipe that connects to the Oil Separator bottom hose. They both lead down to the sump.

So looking from front of car, they are on LHS at rear of engine LH bank. A mirror on a stick and torch are your friend.

You can feel for them quite easily - and if you lube the end of your new rubber pipe with a bit of oil, it is not difficult to push it on to the metal pipe.. Best to work from the sump pipe end back to the PCV. Some people have simply looped the pipe round the outside of the rear engine heater connectionmanifold rather than trying to trace it back through between the engine block and heater connection manifold. Because I like to make my life difficult I did the latter.

Sorry can't remember - too dark now - it is a vacuum pipe - if yours was not connected to anything before I guess you had erratic idle due to leaking the vacuum. Could have been to a black cannister about 10cm long by 4cm diamter, with similar vacuum pipe coming off the other side of it. Have a look around - too dark for me now at the moment. Howard
