Not knowing either parties it seems Craig sold the wheels ( 1st set ) and had an obligation to ensure they were fit for use ( proper TPMS valves ) and with the second set again he was asked for Winter and didn't supply them While I appreciate there may be confusion over the W/S vs winter by joe public this is Craig's business.

As for Angel , I think he is in the right but with an attitude like he has I don't see many people rushing to solve his problems

I think the forum is the right place to post differences but when angel attacks the people who post against him the mods should step in and delete any part of the post that's offensive or personally attacking

Slightly off topic....

Why are you swapping between summer and winter tyres if you only do 3000 miles a year on summer tyres?? I thought winter tyres were now so close in performance to summer tyres in dry and warm conditions that it didn't make much difference...

I looked into running winter tyres all year round on my old Volvo XC70 workhorse, and the consensus was that winter tyres wore out slower in summer than all season tyres did in winter... it's all a bit of a grey area over here, we have been sitting here feeling smug since we won in 1945 that important things like new tyre technology has passed us by... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

We like your cars, the autobahn, your beer and apple strudel but know very little about those black round things that stop the alloys getting scratched..... Rolling with laughter

The original question is a serious one though.... Thumbs Up Pete

Cause you get fines AND you lose your insurance cover in the Fatherland when your car is not equipped, from November to April, with REAL winter tyres. WITH SNOWFLAKE SYMBOL. Neutral

Sorry Hayland according to Dixy and the Aston Martin owners club i am not allowed to mention the *Luftwaffe* again - allo allo ? Wink

Calm down Very Happy

Pete (Haylands) was asking the question the other way around - why not just leave the Winters on all year if you only do 3000 summer miles Whistle

Seems like a genuine & reasonable question to me.....

Yeah I know you need winter tyres, but why not leave them on in summer if you only do 3000miles?? or do the rules say you have to use summer tyres in summer...??? Pete

Not trying to speak for anyone but I thought that was his whole point. He doesn't need summers at any time , hence the M/S are useless to him Rolling Eyes 2015 4.4 AB

Nope - keep up Rolling Eyes Laughing he bought a car with summer tyres - but black wheels - he wants the summer tyres on the new wheels & winter tyres on the black wheels.

Winter tyres are M+S (Mud and Snow) but so are Conti Summers - so as well as being M+S they also need the little snowflake winter symbol on there too to be legal in Germany. However, the winter tyre rules are different all over Europe - Austria for example allows M+S in addition to proper winter tyres.

It seems that Craig was clear the tyres were M+S, but Frank needed Winter - neither seemed to know the real difference as Frank was happy when they arrived.

I assume Frank took them to be fitted & the tyre place identified them as not proper winter ones - but maybe someone else worked it out....
