Cause you get fines AND you lose your insurance cover in the Fatherland when your car is not equipped, from November to April, with REAL winter tyres. WITH SNOWFLAKE SYMBOL.

Yeah I know you need winter tyres, but why not leave them on in summer if you only do 3000miles?? or do the rules say you have to use summer tyres in summer...??? Pete

Not trying to speak for anyone but I thought that was his whole point. He doesn't need summers at any time , hence the M/S are useless to him 2015 4.4 AB

Nope - keep up he bought a car with summer tyres - but black wheels - he wants the summer tyres on the new wheels & winter tyres on the black wheels. Winter tyres are M+S (Mud and Snow) but so are Conti Summers - so as well as being M+S they also need the little snowflake winter symbol on there too to be legal in Germany. However, the winter tyre rules are different all over Europe - Austria for example allows M+S in addition to proper winter tyres. It seems that Craig was clear the tyres were M+S, but Frank needed Winter - neither seemed to know the real difference as Frank was happy when they arrived. I assume Frank took them to be fitted & the tyre place identified them as not proper winter ones - but maybe someone else worked it out.... Last edited by Alistair on 26th Nov 2015 12:04pm.
