New Religion?

Not wanting to offend I thought that I'd throw a few thoughts about in a separate thread, rather than the Paris one.

I think that it's high time that all religions were overhauled, but as that will cause a massive punch up, I'm thinking of starting a new faith.................to replace all others Shocked that's me off everyone's Xmas card list Laughing

Range Roverism Mr. Green

It will be loosely based on my preferred god, the Great God Sod, who preaches "what ever can go wrong, will go wrong" Shocked But it's true Wink

I'm not really a believer in any faith and only really find myself praying when I'm in the car...... "please get me home" or "don't let it be a major kick in the wallet", and the real favorite "please stay green".

We would only have to attend church at 9000 mile intervals, and a home service is acceptable excuse for not attending! Pilgrimages to Solihull would be encouraged, but learning the language might prove to be a bit tricky Shocked didn't think that one through thoroughly Embarassed

If you can think of anything that I've missed or improvements, fire away Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thought of one already............

Christmas would have to be replaced by Rangemas day which would have to be moved to June 17th, it could be a day of National Green Laning or sitting around on the hard shoulder waiting for a tow Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Mmmmmm I think I have to agree with Billy Connolly, religion has had a few thousand years to get it right and they didn't so lets do away with them all and try to become human in the positive sense of the word. Forget about gods and the likes and just try to do the right thing every time without the fear/threat of hell and the likes.

I recently read an article that children without a religious upbringing actually are kinder and more fair. That (if the study conclusion is actually correct and the study was done well) may indicate part of the problem.

Today I read a very insightfull article on ISIS and their particular version of Islam and it was both terrifying and enlightening and even more reason to agree with the above statement IMHO (In My Humble Opinion today Smile ).

Although I do like the idea of a religion that revolves around several of my demi-gods in life, I prefer to be free of the shackles of any form of religion and try to live my life without doing harm as much as possible (no I won't switch from a 5.0 SC to a full EV...................yet.....................).

Here here Eugene... Well said sir...

Just to add a quick story...

There is a LR supply company in Bristol called Cristian Auto’s owned & ran by a big black fella called Pete... I asked him some while ago “who Christian was” and he replied, “I’m not religious at all! But live my life including my business dealings in a Christian fashion..... Thats why its called Christian Auto’s!”

Meaning, you don’t have to be religious to be kind to one another!

I would have said the exact opposite, you have to be devout to be nasty to your fellow man Shocked
I blame the Romans, if they hadn't wiped out all the Druids, we'd still have Magic........ no one would dare to cross us then Thumbs Up Just about every conflict that has happened, has had religion at it's root cause, there are very few exceptions Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... I smile when I heard the Ching sounding hand cymbals, struck by Hare Krishna followers.

Range Roverism has this sound built into the dashboard.

Though it's more of a 'bong' than a 'ching'!

Instead of repeating hare-Krishna hare-Krishna, hare-hare hare-hare

You might hear, 'flat-bat-rey, flat-bat-rey, fakky-fakky fakky-fakky

Or we could just relax when we hear a bong, and just breath out..........'uummmmmmmmmmmm..................-fakk!.'

-In light of respect for this weeks events, we have to invoke some thing to break our thoughts -and smile, for a positive future.

I was going to respond with a hearty "Hear, hear!" to Ebajema's excellent post (Yes, I too saw that article and found it very interesting.) but your comment had me in stitches. That is hilarious.

As Carl Sagan so poetically put it, we still live in a demon haunted world.

Hope you all don`t mind a bit of fun .

The Range Roverism prayer .

The Range Rover is my Shepherd, I’ll not want any other car
He makes me down to lie and fix it with a hammer and a bar
In pastures green; He leadeth me with off road sat nav
The quiet waters by but watch the wading depth
My soul He doth restore again when it all works well
And me to walk doth make when it breaks
Within the paths of righteousness,
E’en for His own name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff my comfort still and heated seats and climate control
My table Thou hast furnished me with tools to keep it going
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint form all the leaking seals
And my cup overflows if I drive it up steep hills
Goodness and mercy all my life
Shall surely follow me;
And in God’s house forevermore,
My dwelling place shall be.

Needs some tweaking .
