Dreaded MOT

Well, my car has just been for Its MOT and failed. Nothing new here, even though one of the things it failed on was replaced 4 weeks ago! It was the front offside bottom (Suspension?) arm. That will teach me to buy cheap parts from eBay!
I want to send it back but cannot find the receipt. It also failed on nearside indicators, front offside brake pipe and my battery isn’t secure. It isn’t secure because i recently bought a new battery and installed it myself. I could not get the battery clamp back on. Isn't it annoying when you do something yourself and its sh*t.

Hope this translation helps Laughing Thumbs Up Jordan

Lower front arm - was it torqued up with the car on the ground/4 post ramp. If it was done in the air then then bush will torque up when you put it down and fail pretty soon thereafter! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Either a really cheap, and I mean nasty cheap part or the MOT place might have questionable motives. Even the worst of parts are extremely unlikely to fail inside 4 weeks unless you've taken the car up mount everest or it was fitted incorrectly. Unless you've seen it with your own eyes I'd be inclined to check it myself.

Another fine reason for using MOT places that don't do repairs. Council depots are one good example. Not the cheapest test fees but always a 100% fair test in my experience.

I had my car mot'd at a Formula 1 centre coz it was handier than cross countrying it to my Indy.
bad move. even whilst I sat in their den of iniquity drinking foul expensive watery espresso I could see the indicators of not bothered and uninterested.
I waited an hour and then was breezily told it failed on rusted rear brake pipes with advisories on all tyres and front brake pipes.
casually I asked what price they could do the work at and was knocked back by the guy saying they didn't have a ramp that could take the fatty. quickly I disengaged logic mode knowing you can't win an argument with a fool.
so I then booked it in to my Indy for an mot which it passed first time with no advisories. I had them do the pipes anyway.
I'll not take the lazy option again

Grumpy old git, if you don't mind.....

Sorry just can't stand this text speak and total lack of grammar and punctuation..... Rolling Eyes

One has to have standards....

vmaxer, nothing personal... Bow down Thumbs Up

I'd get the rest of the brake pipes looked at, they are under the plastic covers down the passenger side of the FF, if one is rusty then I bet the rest aren't far behind....

If you flip the bonnet right up to the service mode it's easier to get the battery sorted.... Pete

The brake pipes are prone to rusting, and are probably about shot anyway. Might be worth looking at the rest as pete says, they can be replaced with copper lines which is a bit easier or for that authentic original look the steel lines from LR are cheap. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
