Which oil for TD6 done 100k miles..5w30 5w40 0w30 etc..

Hi, for the last few services my TD6 has always had a 5w40 fully synthetic oil in it. I wondered what oil most people on here use? The car has done 100k miles. Would like to get the engine running as quiet as possible, has anyone tried the various grades and if so what were your results? Thanks

Don't think you will notice any difference between those grades, I'd just change it more frequently now it's done a few miles... Pete

Hi, yes I tend to change my oil every 12 months anyhow and usually this equates to around 5k miles. I just wondered if there would be any benefits of running a 0w30 over a 5w40 as I tend to do alot of short trips so thought the 0 grade would add protection when cold. But then as the car has done 100k miles if it's to thin it might just drink it.

So long as it's not cheap rubbish then I agree with hay lands it probably won't make much difference.
