Buying my first Range Rover!

Hi guys,
Been lurking here for some time now and finally decided to create an account.
Hopefully not far away from being a Full Fat owner. I'm very excited! It's been my dream car since the day I first saw one.

This forum seems like a great community and everyone seems very friendly and respectful. Coming from the Audi forums this can sometimes come as a shock Laughing

I'm in the market for a 07/08 plate VSE. I currently have the following list of must haves (please correct me if I have any of my info wrong):
Heated/Cooled seats (VSE standard it seems)
VentureCam (Also VSE standard?)
Reverse cam (This seems to be standard full stop)
Rear seat entertainment (On most VSE but not all)
TV tuner (Standard with Rear seat entertainment?)
AUX (No idea on this one!)
Pre heater with remote (VSE standard?)

And I'm assuming the following are standard (Again please put me right if necessary):
Park sensor front and back
Folding mirrors
Auto lights/wipers
Heated windscreen
Phone bluetooth
Cruise control
H/K sound system
Rear heated seats

Also is there anything else that I should be looking for in this year RR?

Thanks in advance guys. I will update this thread as and when I join the exclusive club. Hopefully have some exciting updates within the week.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Welcome JPHC!

I have an 07 VSE and it has all the equipment you have listed. You might be able to find an 08 VSE with everything plus adaptive cruise (mine is standard non-adaptive) and Homelink (open gates automatically) if they are of any interest to you.

There is an AUX in socket in the rear input panel on vehicles with RSE - I modified mine to wire a standard headphone socket in the centre chubby box, which with a 12v USB adapter allows me to play an iPod (or iPhone via a £6 Bluetooth adapter) through the stereo.

TV can be OK when stationary, doesn't seem to work very well on the move (but we never use it) Despite what people say about buying iPads, RSE is great for younger children as they can't cock it up mid journey.

Pre heater is great in winter and it is easy to pair new remotes - the instructions are in the wiki

Good luck with your search Thumbs Up 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

And remember the most important thing it must come with is a decent warranty, not one of those Micky Mouse ones that most non franchised dealers offer.... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Good luck with the search, keep an eye on the for sale section here as well..... Pete

GraemeC,
Thanks for the very useful reply. Is the Adaptive CC standard on 08 then? or did it just become an option then?
I'd love to see the setup you have with the Aux/Bluetooth Thumbs Up

Hayland,
Thank for reminding me about the warranty. What kind of warranty do I need to look out for? And surely warranty rules out buying privately, doesn't it?

Thanks guys Very Happy

If i were in your shoes? I would seriously consider asking someone like Gary Elliot (a site sponsor) if he has or knows of a car for sale/available... Or ask the forum for reliable, indy’s or dealers in your area that can steer you in the right direction...

Look in the “for sale section” here as forum members cars IMHO should be more desirable/reliable than a “stab in the dark” in AT or alike!

Good luck with your search & above all else... Enjoy the process Thumbs Up

Reaching your aim is the end of the game, we say in Holland. So enjoy the search, having the thing for a year seems to be less fun Mr. Green

Do your reading on this site and go for warranty or extended warranty. Remember that every dealer still is a salesman. Gary has a good reputation on here.

So there has been an unexpected spanner in the works recently which will delay FFRR ownership until possibly next year Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
