Suitable replacements for my L322 ??

Ive finally decided to sell the ff after xmas and move into another motor, same old question though, what do you replace them with ?

Ive deliberated over it for most of this year, started threads on X5's and VW Tourags, both getting great responses but leaving me extra questions.

I like the command driving position and the ground clearance so don't really want to return to a car. Im looking for a low maintenance motor to drive for a while whilst I deal with moving home. I would happily go and get a TDV8 but unfortunately I just don't have the funds in reserve to deal with a TDV8's common faults.

Any useful thoughts greatly appreciated ?

2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I am a fan (albeit to look at) of both. I have mates with both and they tell me they are good. In terms of the X5, my mate has the xdrive 40d and is over the moon with it, though it wasn't cheap and he says he misses the low ratio 'box for on site moving with his caravan...it replaced an older shape X5 3.0d Msport that was a load of rubbish...forever having issues.

Toerag's....I really like these and was very close to having one myself earlier in the year. I looked at a new shape and VW offered a great deal. However I was disappointed when I headed to the VW forum's where they get a serious kicking off owners. One gripe I had was the £2k towbar and "if your towing more than 750kg braked, you need to purchase the engine fan upgrade".....

Both nice, but I think there is a lot of great choice out there if you no longer want your range rover.

I am not a Q7 fan, but I would side with the large saloon arguement, the A8 quattro is a fantastic car.....I sometimes wish I still had mine Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I had an S4 Nick, miss it sometimes and often think of returning to either another Audi (A5 / S5) or trying a BMW 330 M sport but I've become accustomed to driving around higher off the ground Laughing

Q7 small inside esp boot height but a decent car. Lazy in normal mode, fairly spritely in sport mode.

X5 drives nice but just doesn't quite have the wow interior to me.

All joking aside, buy another? Buy a slightly cheaper supercharged and factor less likely to have the multi - hundred pounds bills of turbos and egrs. That's what I did.

I dropped away from a ffrr, and before going back looked at the others but deep down couldn't argue any of them to give me the all round satisfaction of the rr. Is not just mpg, or colour, or spec, that makes having a car, it's the whole thing. . . Which the rr won out for me. V8 or else ...

Well I'm all ears here. Same dilemna. Where exactly does one go after one of these? I really don't think I'm ready for a L405, not least because I can't see the 30 clap difference in price, and let's be honest, they still have those standard Land Rover "issues"

Can't bring myself to buy an Audi, just don't get the whole Audi "thing". BMW are well made machines but the one which I do like (the 5 Series GT) isn't available with X-Drive. Merc don't really do it for me except the S Class which again, has no 4WD and I really do need it in the winter where I live. Absolutely nothing French and the rest are just Euro-boxes.

The only 2 I could seriously consider are the XC90 or the Tourag TBH.

Not keen on the Porsche at this moment in time.

The 4.2 supercharger is a good idea around a 55 plate but they still rust like all other land rover lumps Laughing
would have to do the man maths with mpg vs usual oil burner running / servicing costs.

The Q7 I haven't looked into, will check the trader in a few mins

Still on the fence with the toe rag and maybe an X5 .... Question

Regarding the issues, I think if you read round, most brands that offer the same sort of vehicle as the RR appear to have their own foibles.

With that in mind, a factor I gave reasonable weighting to was that if you did have an 'issue' then the RR then for the most part it can be a diy tackled job including diagnostics being readily available. I know there are bmw, vw diagnostics, but from simple research they seem to be more convoluted to get right. The options for RR are easier and straight forward.

But then for me, I'm planning on self servicing etc, so I expect issues. Having had one before, I know how to fix them as well. It all factors in. V8 or else ...
