United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Java Black
Busy Saturday... winter ready.... well almost

done a few jobs today based on the excellant tips and hints from members about winter proofing and anti rust treatments.

1. had a aircon flush/clean and regas done at local Indie.. great job
2. painted with smooth black hammerite the tow bar
3. prepped and checked rear wheel arches in "prone to problem" areas... used small screwdriver to remove all the mud, cack and gunk hidden away behind arch, rubbed down, applied smooth black Hammerite, waited to dry...(polished the FF whilst waiting 2 hours) then out with the wheel arch protectors i bough from Land Rover parts and the Vaseline.... installed in 10 mins smoothing it deeply into the cavity (err no comments please) . then walloped the inner hidden lip with more vasaline... (again no comments LOL).. remaining silent when one should be protesting makes cowards of brave men.

Good job although I wouldn't use petroleum jelly, it's melting pint is only 37deg C and when melted it is flammable... There is the chance it could melt in the sun on a dark coloured car and a one in a million catch fire....

If you use Dinitrol then get some ML wax and use that instead, it's much better at preventing rust and won't get washed off by the continued water thrown at it in the wheel arch...

Your tow bar also looks like it has bubbles of rust on it under the Hammerite, if you don't remove all the bubbles of rust and treat what is left then it will continue to rust under the paint...

Sorry, don't mean to be negative just trying to help... Pete

Vaseline will also attract every bit of dirt known to man and it wont be good for the rubber parts.
