Finally got the car back from the independent garage and apparently they changed the oil cooler and a pipe - my question is can they do this without having to change the oil?

Wow... So the pipe with the “O” ring was not at fault? Or the pipe with the “O” ring was what was changed along with the cooler etc |

Craig - I'm in he dark about what has been changed - I was told a new oil cooler and pipe (apparently £600 cost?) but I'm still baffled as they left the car low on oil - I would have though they would have needed to drain the oil first and hence filled with oil again? CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

Well, its on top of the engine so the job could be done without draining the oil BUT... I wouldn’t have let the car go out without an oil change if only to make sure anything that could have contaminated the oil whilst changing the cooler was removed... |

Will have to get the camera out on mine again as there was a very distinct hot burning smell when I just got out!

Ah yes, the oil cooler in the V.... £1097 later mine was fixed. Garage just bought another 4.4 with the same issue. I think the oil cooler is about £380 plus vat from Land Rover, then the labour and oil change and coolant flushes as oil was in my coolant....

Sorry forgot to add that I have instructed the dealer to lodge a claim with LR UK for a contribution....will let you know if that succeeds!

hmmm mine's back in to JLR main dealer when they discovered an oil leak during service (but didn't rectify it) - shall be an interesting discussion about warranty and main dealer quality I suspect |
