I have just driven a 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography. Oct 2014 car on a 64 plate with 12000 miles on it. I think the list price of this car was something like £96-97k? And the only option this car had was privacy - it's Corris Grey on black leather. There are 15 plate ABs at dealer for £95k+, I have a deal on the table for the 64 plate for £78500, so £20k off list price in 10 months.

I assume that this is a good price? and what kind of depreciation am I likely to see over the next 24 months?

It was an absolutely fabulous car in every respect, so smooth and effortless to drive, it' makes my RRS seem like it's from the dark ages!

They were depreciation proof for the first few years but now????? Who knows as the older ones get older.

Your getting it cheap because of the dodgy colour combo. Black and ivory is the way to go!

So basically you will have a fair number of used cars coming onto the market over the next 6-12 months, this is economics 101. Supply up, demand the same, price down.

And the number onto the market will only increase, they will get cycled through 2nd owners onto the non MD for courts and then prices will start to really drop. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Not an AB, but just buying a standard 14 plate TDV6 & thought worth putting my experience.

Buying on PCP deal over another 3 years GFV is just over 54% - so loses £27k. ouch but the cost of driving an expensive car.

Those that bought new may have done better than this but compared to cost new on the one I'm buying its lost £16k in 16 months

Realistically on a car this expensive I expect to lose £800 per month anything less is a bonus.

Don't think there is any bubble to burst as such, just expected progression - no real waiting lists, plenty of used supply, no longer the latest must-have.

Just another used Range Rover, will hold its value a little bit better than the non-4x4 alternatives, same as before.

Yeah, but we don't all fart fivers Ken, some of us have to consider the cost of depreciation.

Look at NMJ's post above. He's on the money, cars coming up to 3 years old, 1st batch running out of warranty, lease deals finishing. It all adds up to a price drop sometime soonish.

L405 prices will like all cars flatten out I agree however that supply will outstrip demand for a while its the automotive way

My point is you loose on all cars in one way or another take Mini the best RV in class but it costs a fooking lot to run outside of TLC

It's a really tough decision whether to buy or not. It's a lot of money and for the same lay out I could be putting a deposit on a buy to let property and making money rather than losing it! I know life is about choices and I would love to be driving an L405, but at what price? Buying a very expensive depreciating asset seems crazy , but then again the FFRR is a truly fantastic car!

Okay, so buy a property to flip - add the profit from your flip to the original amount to give you enough for the deposit on a buy-to-let and the RR.

Then use the monthly profit on the rental towards the RR PCP, but don't forget that tax relief is changing on the interest on the mortgage
