anyone fixed a failed brake light in 2010 tail light?

Hi all.

Had it pointed out to me that I had a brake light out, 2010 led tail lights on a 2003 with the one stop fix all box... Been working fine since I fitted them, I've plugged the left into the right side to prove its the light and not the box /wiring.

Any way, question being has anyone fixed one of these? I think I'm correct that the old taillight had led brake light anyway so considering chopping the two up. Not a lot to lose now I suppose anyway..

Or does anyone have a 2010 (grey) o/s led tail light for sale?

Yes. Plugs in both sides are the same so just swapped lights over. The n/s light works perfect when plugged in the o/s.
However the o/s light (brake) doesn't work when plugged into either side.

Guess I'm the unlucky one, considering cutting a hole in the back to have a look, as I know the lenses won't come off on these later lights.

What a Censored nuisance Big Cry

I know you can't get into the connectors from the back, as I had to Dremel the front lens off of one I bought to find out that the indicator wasn't working due to the plug not being plugged in! The whole light assembly pulls out through the front.
In hindsight, using a biggish hole saw to get into the back might be the best option. That way you can put that cut out back in with some sealant. Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

That's what I figured Alanm_3, totally out of sight, I'm assuming I'm going to need to change the led itself which should be behind the diffuser.
Or maybe it's better off going on eBay and let it be someone else's problem..

Thanks Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks, that's helpful!

What did you cut, along the seam for the clear lense?

I've now used a multi tool to remove the back of the light to reveal this....

Hopefully it'll come out and I can get the led panel working. 2003 4.4 Adriatic Blue FF

Da daah....

Spoke to someone who was going to look at the PCB for me when I found another light local to me with a broken lense.

Made one good one from the two, polyurethane sealed the back section back on and its perfect! Well happy, shame I've already bought two new ones but hey ho.
I'll be posting these in the for sale section soon if anyones interested.

Thanks for the inside pictures Alan, really helped and I think removing the back is a much much better way than removing the lense and trying to neatly replace it.

Glad you got it sorted Lee. I think your right, cutting a hole on the back is definitely a neater option than cutting the lens off and trying to line it all up again Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
