United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV6 Corris Grey

My FFRR is brand new so has the latest updates on it. I checked.

I'm told that older L405 can have the keyless module within the car upgraded to the latest one which doesn't allow new cloned keys to be made from the diagnostic port.

They're now read only apparently.

Isn't Land Rover recalling all L405s to have the updated module fitted? I heard that they were.

My car has a tracker built in. I can track it using the Range Rover Connected App on my IPhone.

GPS trackers are not worth much nowadays. You can easily get a GPS signal jammer.

I think it was here that I saw it first...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.a...ty+upgrade

I asked my local dealer and they confirmed that my new L405 would already have the updated module.

They also tell me it has 6 trackers located around the car.

The first 3 years of the tracker is free but then it would be subscription... I assume.

I'm certainly no authority on it .... Just going on what I've been told.

That thread seems to suggest the module upgrade is a 'Customer request item' so not a full recall.

I too am unsure how that would work long term unless JLR said they needing to make keys at the factory tied to the exact system of the vehicle and then push the update OTA to the vehicle.

Even so, doesn't stop the brute force push method i'd mentioned/.. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

My understanding is that it simply prevents a new key being added via the diagnostic port.

To add a new key now you'd need to replace the module also. That would also mean replacing your old keys completely.

They had to do something. Seems like an easy quick fix to make simple key cloning more difficult.

My understanding is they are lumping in the replacement read-only KVM work with the P068 recall.

If you then have a genuine need for a new key coding, Land Rover will provide a new KVW free of charge.
