I know I bought a Lemon because...

Since being rid of it and buying the latest one, I've had little to post about! Touch wood Thumbs Up

The old SC (did you but it?):

The 4.4TDV8 is highly recommended Thumbs Up

My first L322 which was a 2007 TDV8 HSE. Looked lovely in the flesh and had a mere 60k on it. The bit I didn't know was it had been an Estate Manager's car in Scotland (V5 had been sanitised - we suspect it came from Balmoral) so every one of those 60,000 miles had been done in a damn field. It was knackered underneath.

Our SC had 1 owner, 67k miles, immaculate looking, correct pedigree and was allergic to engine oil Laughing

Aye... Poor workmanship combined with neglect are - for me - the reasons why there are bad ones...

I think there is probably a proper way to fix stuff and an economic way to have a go..... So I would say that all the cars start off Ok and are capable of being fixed up to perfection if an owner is so inclined, with correct procedures....

your SC could have probably been fixed, but it would no doubt involved removing the engine and stripping the part off, and all the bits around it.

I had no end of trouble trying to fix the transfer box leak on my old one, until I did my homework got under it with a torch and traced the leak to a 20p o ring...... The dealer didn't find that one, neither did my local garage. To be fair to the dealer they did have it out and separate it and completely reseal it, just that it wasn't where the oil was coming from.

I think you definitely did right in getting the 4.4 they are just so nice. Got in mine yesterday after driving the disco all week, and it felt so quiet and peaceful. You kind of forget how quiet it is if you drive it all the time, so i recommend driving a bag of spanners for a week every so often just the remind yourself! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Agreed Mark. Spot on with the assessment re the SC and likewise with the 4.4. It seems better than the SC and feels every bit as accomplished Thumbs Up

Been there done that aswell. I bought a 52plate HSE in 2005 from my local main dealer it was the worst car I have ever owned the list of faults was endless, so much so that after 10 months I took it back got all my money back and spent 47k on a then 12mth old vogue. One of the best cars I have owned, still don't know why I sold it.

My first L322 TD6 (2003) was a nightmare. It's certainly put me off buying a RR again (that doesn't come with a dealer warranty!)
