Yes, provided it has the appropriate history. Look at it another way. The difference between trade and main dealer price (effectively, the cost of one year's warranty as that is all the extra you would get) would likely cover the cost of anything which went wrong anyway - and you may well have no need to pay out at all. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster
2007 3.6 TDV8 Vogue - gone!
2003 V8 HSE (LPG) - gone!
2018 F-Pace 25t Portfolio
1974 LR Series III Lightweight FFR
2014 BMW 640i Gran Coupe

I agree, there should be a significant benefit for buying at "trade price" as already suggested, this should give you enough spare cash to buy a warranty. Unless you are already cutting it fine?

What mileage are we talking about? I think that 50-70K is the danger zone for Range Rovers. After that mileage any issues should have reared their heads and been dealt with. From my experience, buying cars at 90K+ seem to cost less than cars with 40-50K on them as at high mileage is something is going to fail, it has already failed!

I've never had any joy with warranty companies. My last one was with Warrantydirect or something, it was an "exclusionless, bumper to bumper" that when it came to it didn't cover anything that failed!

To give you an idea, I ran my 2003 Vogue for 2 years and spent under £1000 in total. The main things were, suspension bushes (£150 x 2) and the water pump (I think about £200). Then there were the odd bits like brake pads & discs, but these are very reasonable.

It helps if you can do the work yourself, or at least instruct a garage with what work you need doing so you don't get bent over the service counter desk.

Haven't needed to rely upon a warranty (since mine expired nearly a year ago) 56reg TDV8 with 50K on the clock - If the car you have found is as clean and tidy for the year and has had all the services done by a main dealer then you shouldn't have any reason to worry (doesn't mean you won't though Whistle )
