Fitted towbar and 13 pin electrics today in 4 hours | |
We got car back at 12.30!
So boot emptied, all trim removed, and bumper dropped, had a few body clips to replace for the rebuild but expected that on a 2005 motor😜
Dropped the original brace arms and separated from the SC exhaust hangers
Out with the grinder (still saw in my case😳😎) and remove the exhaust carrier brakes to re-use them as got a pre 2006 armature, removed the 4.4 exhaust plate brackets from armature so no issues when bolted back together.
Fix the heat shielding above the exhaust with repair washers and new mounting nut washers,
Feed the thirteen pin electrics so ready to bolt onto the armature once in place
Jack up armature and secure with the bolts going into the chassis up the way, ensure the exhaust brackets are connected and in place, tighten boot edge ones till almost tight, then the inner ones so the exhaust brackets are also almost tight.
Critical this bit, fit the electrics mounting now, then remount the bumper and tension it on first ensure its centred and at the right height.
This ensures the chassis braces are fully held into the body, then tighten the main chassis bolts until bloody tight as they see most of the load on the towbar👍.
This sequence is due to the rear of the armature having a lip on the outer chassis location bumper plates, which need to be aligned to the rear of the car body correctly.
Then the rebuild with new clips and body screws on all bumper fasteners where required.
Finished 4.45pm with tested towbar on the caravan all working correctly👍👍👍
