If they don't do the cross eyed dance at switch on, then they're either not adaptive lights, of there is a problem with them, in which case you should get a warning on the dash. They only move when you're moving, so don't see anything sitting still.

Thanks for that alanm, that's what I'm afraid of. I am just going to text the dealer now and express my concerns. |

I was told that mine were adaptive - no dancing upon ignition, just have an extra bulb either side if the headlights that comes on when you go left or right - effective though 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

^^ the extra bulb is for low speed corner lights, adaptive headlights have motorised low beam units which turn in conjunction with steering input.

OK guys, thanks for that input. My 2006 Disco HSE had the adaptive lights that followed the cars steering also the bright cornering lights came on when you indicated and slowed to less than 30mph. This is what I am hoping the 2011 Vogue is going to be fitted with. |

I've just stopped in an underground NCP and with this thread rolling around in the back of my head I checked the lights on mine and I'm sorry to say Alan but your wrong sir... Mine has adaptive & cornering and when I checked my headlight start up they stay'd firmly in the straight forward position... Unlike my previous 2007 VSE which went "boss eyed" when turning them on for the first time... And yes before you ask, my adaptions worked fine yesterday when I drove her last in the dark... ![]() |

Called the dealer this morning about the lights. Great news, all confirmed that the car was built with adaptive head lights. (Build spec downloaded from Land Rover). The dealer has now pointed out to me, that when you first switch on the ignition, an amber warning light flashes up on the dash with an arrow left and right to show it has adaptive headlights, if there is a problem this warning light stays on. |

Yep, that was my experience. My 07 VSE had them and did the dance and both my 2011's have had them but don't do the dance. Must be later units/software from the 2010 facelift at a guess. Incidentally, with the 2011 when below 30mph the cornering lights come on with the indicators as well. They do still come on when you turn the wheel if not using the indicators. |

I love my adaptive lights. They get full marks for the novelty factor, but moreover, I do find them genuinely useful on more twisty roads. I've got very used to seeing them move so it can actually seem really odd when in a car with normal ones. The nice LEDs I have in the cornering lamps are also great when they go "ping". |

These: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h8-28-led-foglight...power.html They're pretty expensive, but they are good. They do offer a couple of cheaper versions, but as the beam of the LED is inferior, as much light as possible is needed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PS: Don't know if they're sponsors over here, and if you may have your own code, but "DISCO315" gets 15% off. ![]() Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver ![]() |
